El conjunto, obra de la Asociación Belenista de Fuente Álamo, recrea rincones emblemáticos de la Región, como casas típicas de la huerta de Murcia, las Gredas de Bolnuevo o la Casa del Monteral de Mula
El presidente del Gobierno de la Región de Murcia, Fernando López Miras, inauguró hoy el belén monumental del Palacio de San Esteban, realizado por la Asociación Belenista de Fuente Álamo con la colaboración de la Agrupación Belenista José de Nazaret de La Arboleja (Murcia). El acto estuvo amenizado por villancicos que interpretó el coro del Colegio Jesuitinas de Murcia.
El conjunto, que permanecerá abierto al público en la iglesia desacralizada de San Esteban hasta el 6 de enero, ocupa una superficie de 50 metros cuadrados, es visitable a cuatro caras y presenta un marcado carácter costumbrista. Las figuras, de estilo barroco murciano, proceden del taller del artesano belenista y escultor Manuel Nicolás Almansa, que falleció en 2022, y cuyo legado continúan sus descendientes.
Durante su intervención, el presidente destacó que “desde hoy, San Esteban se llena del espíritu de la Navidad con una obra que cada año visitan miles de personas”. Asimismo, puso en valor que el belén “nos recuerda que nuestra historia, nuestra cultura y nuestra civilización se han construido sobre los valores que encarna el Niño Jesús: el respeto, el amor al prójimo, la solidaridad y la paz”.
En total, el belén está compuesto por 200 figuras humanas y 100 animales. Con 21 centímetros de altura, todas ellas destacan por su calidad artística y su fidelidad al estilo tradicional murciano.
La escenografía del belén recrea rincones emblemáticos de la Región de Murcia, con edificaciones de distintos puntos del territorio como marco de los misterios. Destacan, por ejemplo, una típica casa torre de la huerta murciana en la Visitación; la Casa del Monteral de Mula como posada; el Nacimiento en las ruinas de la ermita de San José de El Algar, o las Gredas de Bolnuevo, en Mazarrón, como escenario de la Huida a Egipto.
El presidente felicitó por su trabajo a la Asociación de Belenistas de Fuente Álamo, recientemente reconocida en los Premios Regionales de Artesanía 2025, y a la Agrupación Belenista José de Nazaret de La Arboleja. Además, aprovechó el acto para trasladar su felicitación navideña a todos los murcianos.
El belén puede visitarse de lunes a viernes de 10:00 a 14:00 y de 17:30 a 20:30 horas, y los fines de semana, de 11:00 a 14:00 y de 17:30 a 20:30 horas. En Nochebuena y Nochevieja sólo habrá horario de mañana, y en Navidad y Año Nuevo, sólo de tarde.
