The Community promotes a sector that manufactures unique products that transmit a 'know-how' that passes from generation to generation
Crafts is an area that is gaining more and more followers. Compared to the industrialized and mass production, this sector is configured as the creator of pieces of incalculable value that, made by hand, transmit through them the tradition, history and even the customs of a place. The value of these products, each of them unique, is something that is well known in the Region, in which, through the General Directorate of Crafts, a sector is valued that in the Community brings together 203 professionals, 153 companies and 20 associations, among other agents.
To show the work of these professionals, the Region has three craft centers (Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca) which are, for the General Director of Crafts, Sonia Moreno, a way of giving value to “the culture of the Region. It is necessary that this tradition be transmitted and valued from parents to children. In order to achieve this, inside these spaces visitors can walk through the different temporary exhibitions that it houses and buy these artisan products in the store, both in the field of food and design.
The Region has three craft centers that are located in Murcia, Cartagena and Lorca
Sweets of all life
The field of sweets is the area to which Ana Belén García has transferred all her artisan knowledge. After several experiences in the sector –he opened a cafeteria-pastry shop in Mazarrón in 2013 and in 2018 he created Dolce Alhama–, in 2019 he decided to embark on a new business project and found Dulce Ana, a company that manufactures, by hand and with raw materials from local producers, all kinds of sweet and savory products typical of the Region such as paparajote cakes, real monkeys, orange cakes and paprika sticks, among other products, in addition to making personalized cakes, both in design and flavor.
That traditional character that each of these products gives off is the result of a manufacturing process that Ana Belén García only uses "the blender and the oven" to follow the original recipes of her grandmother "which we only modify to create new products" , he emphasizes. This way of cooking not only has added value because it is a production of few units or because of the time it takes to prepare it, but it is also a way of transmitting "the history and culture of yesteryear so that not even everything that They didn't even teach the usual flavors, "emphasizes Garcia.
All these qualities are highly valued by their customers, who despite their shorter durability compared to industrial ones (they do not contain preservatives) select the quality of sweet and salty products that smell and taste of the Region of Murcia.

Fundirmetal Amando SL is one of the oldest companies in the Region. Founded in 1810 by the great-great-grandparents of the current manager, Amando López, this Murcian is a master craftsman who uses traditional techniques in his artistic foundry workshop, from bronze to lost wax, including sand, micro-casting and ceramics, to elaborate all kinds of works and sculptures. These pieces are either unique or belong to very small productions "of a maximum of 50 units," emphasizes López, and are made of materials such as stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, brass, and corten steel.
This artisan value, passed down from generation to generation, is a quality that they have been able to combine perfectly with new technologies, which they use to innovate in design and materials without ever losing that artisan character that has earned them their success over the years. years. This good work has materialized in different sculptures that populate the Region, such as the one located in the General Air Academy for the institution's 75th anniversary, those located in different roundabouts in Murcia and Molina de Segura or those that make up the Typhological Museum of San Javier, among many others.
This ability to transform minerals into art is a quality that has earned it numerous awards, such as the one received last December, when the entity was recognized with the 2020 Crafts Award, an award that, as Amando López emphasizes, was "a satisfaction for all the family for having come this far.
